This list of FAQ’s touch on some of the most common inquiries I get about my approach to Weddings. I also understand that every Wedding is unique so i f you have any other questions, please contact me. 

What are your packages and how much do you charge?!

I try and keep things simple so currently have only two options! Each package includes:

All the communication and planning meetings before the wedding, two photographers working our hearts out for 8 hours on your day, and your high resolution image files edited to perfection. The second package includes a beautiful flush mount Momento album book.  After spending years tweaking the service I offer these packages are what I have found to be a good fit for most of my clients! However, if this isn’t quite right for your photography requirements just let me know a few more details and I can create a custom quote (eg one photographer,  less hours, more hours).

Can we meet before booking?

Yes! I’ve always found it much more helpful to meet in person or via Skype to tackle questions and answers. It’s also really important to me that our personalities connect and that I am a good fit for your day. Let’s try for coffee if you’re in the Waikato or Hamilton Area. If that isn’t possible we can touch base via Skype or phone.

What are your prices?

Commissions for weddings depends on wedding location and availability. Contact me here or email directly to info@ruthgilmourphotographer.co.nz and I will send more information about my wedding collections.

What sort of support can we expect from you as our Photographer?

I will keep in touch throughout your engagement period and support you with planning your wedding day in whatever way possible. Once you’ve booked I supply a wedding guide with detailed information on how to construct your timeline, family photo list, awesome vendors and a bunch of other useful information….. I am always just a phone call or email away if you would like to touch base or run something by me!

How do I book and what is the deposit?

To secure your date I require a $500 deposit, however if you’ve expressed interest but not paid I will contact you before booking another wedding on your day. The $500 is a non refundable booking fee. In the case your date changes I am happy to carry over your deposit to the new date providing I’m free. If you cancel your plans I will endeavor to fill your spot so I can return your deposit.

Are you available for weddings outside of Hamilton or the Waikato? I sure am! I frequently shoot Weddings in the Bay of Plenty, Auckland, Rotorua and the Coromandel.

Do you employ a second shooter?

Yes! In most cases it will be my husband Dave and our clients tell us that we make a great team! I also work regularly with two other local photographer’s who are awesome at what they do!

What do you need from us?

I have several questionares I will send you so I know what your priorities and how to ensure your day and photographs are a success. You are most welcome to choose your photo shoot locations, or if you are stuck for location ideas I am happy to help!

How many photos will we get?

This really does depend on the number of guests, activities throughout the day, and a variety of other factors! However, I will generally deliver 100 photographs per hour. So from 8 hours of photography coverage  you will receive between 700- 1000 photographs.

What if I hate having my photograph taken?

I work with plenty of people who are not keen on being photographed and I pride myself out of getting the best out of the most reluctant of subjects!!  I will also equip you with a number of tools and tricks to make sure you look and feel great in front of the camera. My goal is that you feel comfortable enough to forget I am there so that you fall into the presence of being together and bonding for a fun and memorable experience.

An engagement shoot is a great opportunity to get some practice behind the camera. This is not only an enjoyable experience but allows us to become familiar with each other.

Do you blog?

I do! However, in the peak of Wedding Season I prioritise delivering full Wedding galleries as quickly as possible, so If I fall behind on blogging this is why!

How are our photos delivered?

Your Wedding photos will be delivered via online gallery approximately 6-8 weeks after your wedding day. The images are fully processed, edited, and downloadable printable high resolution jpeg images. I will also deliver your images in a wooden USB gift package.

Is this your real job?

It sure is! I photographed my first wedding in 2005 and I’ve been hooked on photographing people ever since!
